We are the Asian representative for a brilliant English bowmaker, Howard Green. Mr. Green's bows are exquisitely crafted and have beautiful finishes. More importantly, the bows are extremely well balanced and play wonderfully. The touch and control from the bows is outstanding. Mr. Green is truly a genius among bowmakers, with an instinctive feel for each bow stick and the ability to carve the maximum potential out of it. Mr. Green's bows are used by internationally renowned soloists, pedagogues and members of prominent world-class orchestras.
They include Mr. Cho-Liang Lin, the Violin Virtuoso and Internationally Acclaimed Soloist, and Professor of Violin at both the Juilliard School and the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, Ms Takako Nishizaki, the International Violin Virtuoso and Recording Artist, and Ilya Gringolts, the Deutsche Grammophon recording artist.
Mr. Cho-Liang Lin, the Violin Virtuoso and Internationally Acclaimed Soloist, and Professor of Violin at both the Juilliard School and the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, who said:
"I like Howard Green's bows very much. I bought two of them myself and have performed with them. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any serious performers and anyone looking for fine bows."
Ms Takako Nishizaki, the International Violin Virtuoso and Recording Artist, commented that :
"It's a really exceptional bow. I tried it with all my violins. It matches perfectly with some... With the matching violins each note pronounces very clearly and, in a very unique way, the bow sticks to the strings unlike any other bow I have ever used. It also produces a very big tone."
The Deutsche Grammophon recording artist
Ilya Gringolts, commented in The Strad Magazine article "Spontaneous Combustion" in the June 2003 issue that:
"My usual bow is really nothing special, although it works for me, but the one I used in the concert was made by a great English maker who now lives in Scotland - Howard Green. He was recommended to me by Mr. (Itzhak) Perlman who already has a couple of his bows. Howard made it for me last year and I didn't really use it much until comparatively recently. I originally bought it as my spare, but I like it so much now that I'm finding it hard to decide which bow to use. The Green is quite heavy, but it can stand any amount of pressure which is invaluable in a percussive work like the Bartok."In the Strings Magazine excerpt from the November/December, 2003, No. 114 issue entitled "Bach and Beyond", the section under "What Gringolts Plays" states that:
"With support from the Chicago-based Stradivari Society, Ilya Gringolts plays the 1723 "Kiesewetter" Stradivari, on extended loan from Clement Arrison. The award-winning bow maker Howard Green, an English craftsman now residing in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, made Gringolts' primary concert bow. (Itzhak Perlman introduced Gingolts to Green.)"
